Quality Assurance, Quality Control

The PSAH HDPE Pipeline joining processes and Quality Assurance program is designed for Engineers, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, and leading hands who want to further their knowledge of the current HDPE pipeline joining process and the QA/QC involved to achieve success in the installation of HDPE pipelines.

The learner will receive an Industry Recognised Certificate of Attendance once they have successfully completed the 1-day course. This course is industry-recognised and has been delivered to Tier 1 companies all over Australia.

The HDPE Pipeline QA/QC course is the latest course designed for site engineers, site supervisors, leading hands and HDPE pipeline welders looking to further their career opportunities.

This unit is perfect for learners who are:

  • Seeking to gain the knowledge and skills to assist in the Quality Assurance and Quality control aspects of HDPE pipelines undertaken in the field and in factory conditions, where pipelines may be for transmission of gas, liquids, or solids.

How is the unit delivered?

Training is delivered via face-to-face training and assessment.

Unit Duration: This unit is designed to be completed in 6-8 hours (depending on learner engagement and question time)

What will you learn in the HDPE Pipeline QA/QC course?

This unit is designed to develop your expertise in Quality Assurance and Quality Control of welded HDPE pipelines. Among others, you will learn to:

  • How to check incoming products are compliant
    • Standard Dimension Ratio
    • Terminology
    • Calculation
    • Tolerances
  • Relevant AS / PIPA standards and procedures to ensure compliance
    • AS/NZ 4129 – AS/NZ 4130
    • ISO 21307 2017 Butt fusion jointing procedures for polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings used in the construction of gas and water distribution systems
    • Plastics Industry Piping Association (PIPA) Guidelines
    • PIPA POP – 001, 003, 014
  • Butt methodologies
    • High pressure Vs Low pressure
    • Weld identification
    • Assessment of completed welds
  • EF methodologies
    • Correct marking out procedures
    • Correct data recording
    • Weld identification
    • Assessment of completed welds
  • How to interpret/manage data logger information to secure conformance against ISO Standards.
    • McElroy VAULT Datalogger weld report collection system
    • Deciphering VAULT weld reports
    • Data collection
    • Additional notes when verifying welds

How is the unit structured?

All learners will be assessed through a combination of the following assessment methods:

  • Face-to-face training delivery
  • Questioning – Verbal

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal pre-requisite requirements for this unit of competency according to the training package requirements. It is suggested that site engineers, site supervisors, leading hands and HDPE pipeline welders looking to further their career opportunities attend this course.

  • Morning tea supplied (Tea, coffee, and biscuits) but the students MUST supply their own lunch

  • Onsite parking is limited at the PSAH Training and Recruitment Pty Ltd facility but there is parking available on Robson Street

What you need on the day of the course

For classes, students will need to bring a valid drivers licence or valid form of Identification (Government issued I.D. card), ensure they are fit to work and not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and MUST supply their own lunch.
